5 ways Miscanthus fuels help to combat climate change

By David Pattison 9th May 2019

Replacing the over use of fossil fuels with sustainable solutions is not just for policy makers, everyone can do their bit and our Miscanthus fuel range is a plant-based alternative to unsustainable fuels which is also good for the environment…

  1. MADE FROM MISCANTHUS

Our fuel range is made from Miscanthus, a wonder crop that grows over three metres tall, on lower grade farm land. It’s planted once and harvested every spring with a whopping 20-year life span!

  1. BIODIVERSITY

Miscanthus needs zero fertiliser and the earth it grows on is undisturbed for potentially 20 years which increases biodiversity and improves soil health. It’s also an excellent habitat and produces leaf litter that’s full of life.

  1. BRITISH GROWN

Terravesta Fuels helps support UK farmers by using Miscanthus grown on British Farms. Sourcing our materials more locally helps improve our carbon footprint and the products have full traceability from field to furnace.

  1. CARBON EMISSIONS

Miscanthus helps to cut carbon emissions by absorbing more carbon than it releases in its lifetime.

  1. WASTE FREE

We strive to make our products as waste free as possible by using 100% of the crop, waste materials, and recyclable packaging. Our Firestarters are blended with waste wax from British artisan candle producers and our Briquettes and Fire Logs are made from the dust extracted from Miscanthus horse bedding.
